The Modern Mystic

My spiritual teachers advise taking an inventory of all the ways we may have wronged ourselves or others every night before bed & then ask for forgiveness. Meaning, the Sufi Path requires looking at & healing our shadows as daily practice. It requires compassionate & rigorous self-examination & love.

In the Sufi tradition the highest jihad (struggle) is the struggle with one's ego, which is at the core of the human condition. Looking at & purifying one's self not the other, is the path of the Sufi.

In other words, compassionate shadow work, shadow work, shadow work... AND forgiveness—

This is the path of self-mastery, the path of the Divine lover, the path of the modern mystic, the path of the Sufi.
